- Sossusvlei and the Namib Naukluft Desert
- Lagoon at Walvis Bay
- Solitaire Guest Farm
The perfect combination of sight-seeing and adventure, this 4-day tour offers you the chance to visit the quaint coastal town of Swakopmund, the stunning Sossusvlei sand dunes and the carnivore release site at Solitaire.
This tour starts and ends in Windhoek which means you can also find time to explore just what makes the capital city of Windhoek so special.
After being collected at 07:15, you’ll head to the safari office for an orientation talk. This will be all about Namibia and the spectacular sites which you’re likely to see on the tour. At 8am, you will depart Windhoek and drive to the incredible lagoon at Walvis Bay. After a light lunch, you will begin your early afternoon activity of bird-watching before heading to the quaint seaside town of Swakopmund where you will be able to spend the rest of the afternoon exploring.
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, you will have the opportunity to spend the first part of the morning joining an optional activity such as sand-boarding in the coastal dune fields – perfect for the more adventurous amongst you! You will then leave Swakopmund at midday as you travel to Solitaire, stopping at the Tropic of Capricorn en-route. The drive will take you through the scenic splendour of the Kuiseb and Gaub Passes and upon arrival, you will be able to enjoy a sunset walk overlooking the breathtaking Naukluft Mountain Range.
Following an early morning wake up call, you will depart camp and travel to the Sossusvlei park gate. Once you have entered the park, you will drive down an ancient river bed through the towering sand dunes to the rest stop area – a drive of approximately 55km. You will then climb the stunning Sossusvlei sand dunes themselves, taking the time to appreciate the beauty and wilderness of this iconic region. After exploring, you will discover ‘Dead Vlei’ – a vast expanse of bleached cracked clay and withered camel thorn trees before making your way back to your accommodation, visiting the Sesriem Canyon en-route and climbing the imposing ‘Dune 45’ if you wish.
After a leisurely breakfast, you will travel to the Solitaire Guest Farm which is affiliated with the Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary. Solitaire is the release site for numerous ‘problem carnivores’ that have caused issues on local farms and here you’ll be able to learn a little more about the amazing work that takes place and get some incredible photos! You will then return to Windhoek arriving in the afternoon. Should you wish to book onward travels, we recommend booking a flight that departs no earlier than 8pm.
